About CaringAtlas
CaringAtlas is an independent senior care directory built on one idea: a family choosing care for a parent deserves the real record, not a sales pitch.
Why we exist
The big senior care referral sites are paid a fee, often about a month's rent, by the same communities they recommend. That changes what you see. A 2024 Washington Post investigation found that 37.5% of one large referral service's own "best of senior living" award winners had been cited by inspectors for serious violations, including unanswered call buttons, residents left unbathed, understaffing, and abuse. The service is paid by the facilities and does not independently check their records. That is the conflict we were built to remove.
What we do differently
We put the federal record next to every community: the Medicare CMS Five-Star rating, the actual health-inspection deficiencies, nurse hours per resident per day, fines, and special-focus status, each linked to its official source. For assisted living and memory care, which are state-licensed rather than federally rated, we confirm the license and say plainly what we could not verify rather than imply a clean record. We rank by that data and by real resident reviews, never by who pays us.
How we make money, and how we don't
Our help is free to families. When a family moves into a community we introduced them to, that community may pay us a referral fee. It never changes a community's ranking, and it never changes what we show you. We say so on every page that mentions it. We do not sell your information, and we do not publish anyone's private contact details.
If you are choosing care for someone you love, start with the data. We will help with the rest.
